Come October 16 2007, Vox will be launched.
Vox, a brand new initiative of AltX-listed Vox Telecom Limited, will be offering consumers a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony solution that is a genuine alternative to Telkom’s fixed-line service.
Through the flagship product, the Vox ADSL Phone, Vox will be providing customers with their own 087 number, which will enable them to save money on calls that they make and earn money on calls that they receive. On top of that, customers will be able to call other 087 Vox users for free in off-peak times. Vox customers will get paid 20c a minute on incoming landline calls and 40c on incoming cellphone calls.
In the past, VoIP was only used by high-tech consumers, but Vox’s VoIP solution will be easy to use, simple to install and provide a quality voice service at a saving of up to 50% of Telkom’s current rates.
Moreover, Vox will be the first telecommunications company to reinvest in its customers. A percentage of any revenue generated will be given back to the consumer, enabling customers to make and earn money. This sharing of revenue with customers is unheard of in the local telecoms sector, but Vox will rely on its customers to help grow the business into a real competitor to Telkom and it is, therefore, prepared to share its revenue with them. Vox Telecom’s approach to the telecommunications sector has always been innovative and upbeat, and the growth strategy for Vox is no different.
Without any additional complications, consumers will be able to enjoy the cost savings of VoIP, while still having the option to use a standard fixed-line service.
Right, so how does VoIP work?
VoIP is a technology that carries voice conversations over the Internet, or any network based on Internet Protocol (IP). This is sometimes called “converged communication”, which simply refers to a situation where voice and data are both carried over the same connection or pipe. Once communication is converged, a lot of new possibilities open up, like video calls or telephone numbers that follow customers around the country. Yes, you will be able to keep your 087 number wherever you go.
At its most basic, though, VoIP is nothing new. Large telecom companies like Vox Telecom have used it for years as a way to carry their local and international voice traffic. What is new in the past few years, as broadband Internet access has grown across the globe and South Africa, is the consumer-based VoIP offerings that companies like Vox offer.
The main advantages of VoIP telephony versus fixed-line services are the money you will be able to save and, in the case of Vox’s new product, the money you will be able to earn. On top of that, consumers will have the option to choose either Vox’s VoIP or Telkom’s fixed-line to communicate. All that consumers will need is an ADSL connection and a Vox ADSL Phone, both of which Vox will offer as a hassle-free package.
Whether you are looking for a complete alternative to Telkom or just a way to get more value for money out of your communications, Vox’s VoIP solution is definitely something to consider.
These services will be available from your local @lantic reseller. |
