| Part 1: Updating the firmware |

Plug your USB Modem into the USB port of a Windows XP computer. |

The USB Modem will automatically detect and start to install (This process may take a few minutes). |
| 3. |
An end-user licence agreement will appear. Click "Accept". The Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite software will start to install. |
| 4. |
Once the software has installed and is ready to use you will see an icon in the bottom right of your screen. |

Right-click on this icon and select "Close" |
| 6. |
The USB Modem is now ready for the firmware updater to be started |
| 7. |
Open the firmware updater file ( E220Update_11.110.05.00.00 (3.6M_Vista).zip) you saved on your PC and extract the files into a folder where you can access them |
| 8. |
Click on the .exe file in this folder to start |
| 9. |
The firmware updater will start to run. |
| 10. |
An end-user licence agreement will appear |

Before accepting the agreement remove your SIM card |
| 12. |
Select "Accept the agreement" and click "Next" |
| 13. |
Warning messages will appear - click "Yes" and "Next" |
| |

The firmware updating process will take several minutes. Ensure you are connected to mains power so that your PC does not |
| |
run out of power |

| |
 |
| |
|
| 15. |
Click "OK" and "Finish" when the update process has finished |

| |
|
| 16. |
Un-plug the USB Modem, wait 30 seconds, then re-insert your USB Modem back into USB port |
| 17. |
Your laptop or PC should detect the USB Modem and start to install |
| |

| |
 |
| |
|
| 18. |
Repeat steps 2 to 5 above |
| |
|
| |
You are now ready to upgrade the software |
| |
|
| Part 2: Updating the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite software |
| 1. |
Open the software updater file (VMCLite_E220_DBU__v2.1.6.1.zip) you saved on your PC and click on the .exe file to start |
| 2. |
The software updater will start to run |
| 3. |
An end-user licence agreement will appear |
| |

| |

| |
|
| 4. |
Before accepting the agreement ensure your SIM card is still removed from your USB Modem |
| 5. |
Select "Accept the agreement" and click "Next" |
| 6. |
Click "Start" to begin the update process |
| |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| 7. |
Warning messages will appear. Click "Yes" |
| |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
| 8. |
The software updating process will take several minutes. Ensure you are connected to mains power so that your PC does not run |

out of power |

| |
 |
| |

| 9. |
When the 'Update Successful' screen appears, click "Finish" |

| |

| |
|

Please allow a few minutes after clicking, as the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite software installs |

Once the software has installed you will see an icon in the bottom right of your screen |

| |

Right-click on this icon and select "Close" |
| 13. |
Unplug the USB Modem from your PC and insert your SIM Card |
| 14. |
Re-insert the USB Modem into the USB port of your PC |
| 15. |
The USB Modem will automatically detect and the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite software will start to install |
| 16. |
To check that your USB Modem has successfully updated please click "Connect" and start to use the USB Modem as you |
| |
normally would |
| 17. |
After testing, click "Disconnect", close down the software and remove you USB Modem from your PC |
| |

| |
Your USB Modem is now ready for use on Windows Vista! |
